Product Tag

It’s time for the weekly “Marketing Minute”. I’ve seen this question a couple of times so I thought I would highlight it today (shout out to Kim Elton.)

What is the functionality of a product tag and how is it useful?

The main use of a product tag is to utilize it as a data source for product widgets OR to create a custom category.

Why would you want to use a product tag as a data source? Well, my favorite way to use this is to highlight a set of products on a landing page that I’m building. (Ex. Creating a gift guide and I want to show products under a specific price range in a product slider.) See the attached picture of a gift guide I’m currently building for one of my marketing clients.

Or, if someone wants a custom category, we can tag specific products and set up a separate category for this. (Ex. Someone wanting to have a “trending” jewelry section - just tag the products with a “trending” product tag and we can create a category based off of the tag.)

To add a product tag, simply go to Commerce > Jewelry > Search the SKU in search records > Edit Product > Categorization > Product Tags.

If you’d like to learn about how to use product tags (and how to create a holiday gift guide), check out this prior webinar:

Time stamp is around 6:05 - 9:00 to see how to build a product carousel slider widget. Time stamp at 21:30 - 27:00 for an explanation on how to create a product tag.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers!

Katie
